Mike Smith currently works directly with brands, agencies, and anyone else who believes that creativity is an economic multiplier and wants to use it as a competitive business advantage.

Prior to this Mike was EVP/ Executive Creative Director at BBDO New York.

He spent 13 years creating groundbreaking work for HBO, FedEx, Guinness, Yahoo, Bud Light, Target, and eBay, among others. He was Executive Creative Director on the critically acclaimed HBO brand campaign “Imagine.” He also was writer and Creative Director on the team that brought the incredibly awarded HBO “Voyeur” project to life. During his tenure Mike has successfully helmed a multitude of new business pitches and has led a wide range of accounts. Mike also served on BBDO New York’s Board of Directors.

Before his time at BBDO, Mike hung his hat at shops like Fallon Worldwide and Wieden + Kennedy, where he both created and helped shape many celebrated advertising campaigns for Nike, Microsoft, Amazon, Citibank, and EDS.

Mike ranks as one of the advertising industry’s most awarded creative leaders.

His work has won numerous accolades worldwide, including multiple Grand Prix, Best of Shows, and a Best of the Digital Decade honor from shows like The One Show, Cannes, D&AD, Communication Arts, the CLIOs, the ADDYs, WEBBY’s and the ANDYs.

He has twice been nominated for an Emmy and has over a dozen pieces on permanent display in the Museum of Modern Art.

Mike firmly believes that awards are simply the byproduct of great ideas that are specifically designed to advance a client’s business. And that bringing those ideas to life is a deep collaboration that no trophy will ever do justice.

In his spare time Mike enjoys basketball, running, fishing, and teaching his son Mason the soul crushing effects of a mid-range jumpshot.
